The old General Amherst High School in Amherstburg has been purchased from the Greater Essex County District School Board by Valente Development Corp.

“I believe that this is one of the most important pieces of property in downtown Amherstburg, and I have strong family roots in town – so we plan on creating something sensational that the entire Town can be proud of,” said president Peter Valente in a statement.

The company is still in the “design stages for a re-development of the property,” Valente said.

“Once we have finalized initial concepts more information will be shared with the public at that time.”

The school closed in 2022, when programming was moved to the new North Star High School and merged with Western Secondary School.
